The Diva, 34, admitted she was both sad and relieved that Nikki called off her engagement to the WWE icon, just three weeks before their wedding. 

It is believed Brie thought Nikki was giving up the chance to have a family in order to be with the former WWE Champion. 

A source close to Brie said: “On one level, Brie wants to kill him, sure. 

“No one should be allowed to hurt her sister like this. But honestly, on another level, there’s relief.

The source added: “The things she said when she was with John – that she didn’t need to be a wife or that she didn’t need to be a mum – that’s just not Nikki.”

Following the split John Cena cryptically tweeted about the “burden of shame” after he separated from his fiancée.

WWE legend Cena took to social media in his second tweet since their break-up became public on Sunday.

Statements from the couple suggested the break-up was amicable, but sources have since claimed Nikki is “heartbroken”.

People magazine have also reported her pals branded Cena a “pity husband” who was “gritting his teeth the whole way” through their engagement.

The 16-time world champion has seemingly responded on Twitter as he posted “sometimes we must bare the burden of shame”.

He included a hashtag with his catchphrase #RiseAboveHate and fans remain shocked by the separation.
